Description
Active iron is an essential component of hemoglobin, which ensures that red blood cells can transport sufficient oxygen to all parts of the pigeon's body.
This is, of course, crucial during periods of increased physical exertion during the racing season, breeding, and moulting. In young pigeons, iron deficiency during growth is one of the most common problems, resulting in a hemoglobin deficiency and poor metabolism.
During exertion, a racing pigeon obtains its energy requirements from fat metabolism. To make this available, a racing pigeon needs a lot of oxygen, hence the importance of sufficient hemoglobin concentration in the blood.
Two weeks before the start of the racing season, administer 15 ml three times a week in 2 liters of drinking water.
As a treatment, administer 10 ml in 1 liter of drinking water for 10 days.
