Description

The use of electrolytes in pigeons has been adopted from the human sports world. The use of human products cannot always be adopted so easily in the animal domain. A person perspires when he exercises and secretes salt and electrolytes via his perspiration glands. Therefore, athletes must regenerate this loss with the help of electrolytes. This quickly restores the balance.

However, those who simply transfer this to pigeons forget that pigeons do not have perspiration glands! Have you ever seen a pigeon returning from a race heavily perspiring? If pigeons did have perspiration glands, then the feathers would definitely be wet and sticky from the perspiration after a heavy and strenuous flight. And as is well known, pigeons with wet feathers cannot fly well. Evolution has reacted to this and was so intelligent not to provide pigeons with perspiration glands.

The truth is: During races, pigeons mainly lose protein (weight) and little electrolyte loss. The protein loss should be quickly compensated with high-dose amino acids, such as Med. Tollyamin Forte or Tollisol Plus, as well as with a high-quality animal protein product, such as Immunol. However, within the poultry sector, there is a sensible use of electrolytes that are applied to chickens that lay eggs daily. In this case, the administration of electrolytes is unavoidable. In the case of stuck or breeding pigeons, which, viewed over several years, lay several rounds of eggs annually and raise young pigeons, the administration of electrolytes would be extremely sensible. Many a breeding hen would then not feel dehydrated and rough after a few years, because a shortage of electrolytes during the phase of egg formation is compensated by the breeding hen by a breakdown of minerals from its own bone system. This is how nature planned it, to protect the egg against possible shortages. However, nature could not foresee that pigeon fanciers would build pigeon lofts and let breeding pigeons lay eggs, just like chickens. This is also the reason that we have dosed our new special composition 30 times higher than conventional electrolyte mixtures.

Administering Electrolyte Balance will also prevent the moistening of the nest of the young pigeons, which will increase from the second breeding round. You may have noticed before how moist the manure in the nest of the young pigeons is. This moist manure is mainly caused by an abnormal balance in the electrolytes (metabolic problem).
